The Influence Project

Midlands Arts Centre

2019-20

I worked with MAC as a freelance curator to deliver a programme of scheduled exhibitions whilst the full-time permanent role was being recruited. During this time I worked closely with MAC’s technical and marketing teams on the planning of future exhibitions.

Crafting a better future

Big Draw Day

I worked closely with artists, community groups and partners on the delivery of exhibitions and events including the highly successful The Influence Project and Big Draw Day which saw members of the public join exhibiting artists Matt Shane and Jim Holyoak in a mass drawing activity on the floor of the gallery. I developed collaborative community projects Crafting for a Better Future with Birmingham-based homeless charities Sifa Fireside and St Basils and The Botanical Menagerie with Jenna Naylor in association with BEDLAM: Arts and Mental Health Festival.

I developed plans for the forthcoming exhibition programme comprising loans administration, writing and preparing interpretation, organising insurance and transport. I am working closely with MAC’s CEO Deborah Kermode to curate the forthcoming exhibition Women’s Work by Caroline Walker which was scheduled to open in Spring 2020 but postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The exhibition will take place in 2021 with a publication featuring an essay by leading feminist theorist Griselda Pollock.
