Commission Open Call

Erbe is commissioning its first artist to respond to the Wyre Forest.  Erbe is a new organisation launching in 2021 with the aim of exploring the rural West Midlands and its creative potential to better understand its past, present and future.

We are commissioning an artist to create a new sound work in response to the Wyre Forest. The work will be included in a forthcoming podcast which launches Erbe in 2021, but will also be enjoyed as a digital download while experiencing the forest or in the comfort of your own home. Artists are asked to respond to a particular aspect of the Wyre Forest’s history and its relevance today, reflecting on our relationships with outdoor environments and nature and how they have become increasingly important during the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Applicants are asked to outline their initial ideas and approach to this commission in no more than 500 words with links to previously produced works. The deadline for applications is 5pm Monday 14th December. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview (taking place on Zoom) on Thursday 17th December.

The commission needs to be completed no later than Friday 15th January 2021. Priority will be given to artists living/ working in the Worcestershire area but is open to candidates from further afield who can access the Wyre Forest.

The fee for this commission is £500 with mentoring from the curator and the assistance of local specialists if required.

Email applications to hello@jmgcreative.co.uk and complete the Equal Opportunities Form below.
